The Dayton Art Institute supports educators' and student integration of arts with all other curriculum areas. We connect our lived experience with universal themes and school curriculums, creating experiences that inspire student and reflect our diverse community!

Resources are available for educators including museum tours and workshops for school groups, professional development sessions and teacher open house events.

Art + Core Connections at the Dayton Art Institute offer interactive, standards-aligned gallery and workshop experiences for PreK-12 school groups that are led by trained Museum Guides. Tours are specifically designed to offer students unique opportunities to build meaningful connections with art.

Below are our current ACC tour and workshop offerings. Schools may book a tour, a workshop or a tour and workshop.

 

Guided Offerings

Visit 3-5 artworks during a 45- or 60-minute Guided Visit

Global Celebrations

  • Grade Levels: K-8
  • Students will explore heritage, culture, and global connections through celebrations.

Art and Science: Elements of Nature

  • Grade Levels: K-8
  • Students will explore ways scientific processes with the elements of nature are utilized in art. 

Elements of Art

  • Grade Levels: K-8
  • Students will learn and explore foundational elements of art such as color, shape, line, texture and space. 

Principles of Design

  • Grade Levels: 9-12
  • Students will learn foundational components of principles of design and how they are intentionally incorporated in art and art making.

The Art of Writing

  • Grade Levels: K-8
  • Students will explore artistic storytelling, writing as an artform and the relationship between art and language.

Art & Architecture

  • Grade Levels: 9-12
  • In this tour, students will explore several architectural themes which inspired the DAI building and the many ways architecture is expressed both functionally and artistically.

Important Tour Info

  • Grades PreK–2: must have one (1) adult chaperones per every six (6) students
  • Grades 3–12: must have one (1) adult chaperones for every ten (10) students
  • Groups with more adults than a 1:10 ratio will be charged the group rate of $10 per person.
